Nikelle is the owner, massage therapist and yoga teacher at Crescent Moon. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she studied communication. She worked in the sales industry for 7 years and then realized that assisting people to better optimize their health and well-being was her passion. She decided to attend massage school at Cortiva Institute (Chicago Loop) in 2009. She began to learn skills to coach people in creating and maintaining wellness in their bodies. Believing that the body and mind needs to relax as a first step towards pain release and tension, Nikelle’s technique focuses on a simultaneous blend of therapeutic bodywork and deep massage through a relaxing and comfortable treatment experience. Deeper relaxation, as well as muscular and energetic release are sought through the use of breath work, contract/relax, and stretch.
Believing in continual learning of effective practices, Nikelle studied at Coaching the Body in Evanston, IL and became a certified Coaching the Body Practitioner. This bodywork blends traditional Thai massage techniques with trigger point theory, neuromuscular techniques, and yogic theory. CTB is done on a futon style mat, clothes on, and focuses on releasing trigger points and a long deep stretching. She also offers traditional deep tissue and Swedish modalities. Check out the Thai massage tab for more info on CTB.
Nikelle is also a 500 RYT Yoga Instructor. She is passionate about continuing to bring awareness to the mind, body, and spirit connection. Nikelle teaches vinyasa style yoga classes and combines yoga philosophy in her massage practice. Crescent Moon has recently expanded to include "Over the Moon" Yoga Studio, which is a space for group yoga/meditation classes. Yoga events are also available. Like minded individuals may inquire about studio rental.
